I can’t believe it’s not butter!

There’s a fab challenge over at That Craft Place.  Ever since I did the Neil Walker workshop, I’ve wanted to alter a box using the faux metal technique.  I eyed this Lurpak (yup, it’s a butter container!) back in December and bought the metal handle then too just waiting to make this.  This challenge provided just the push I needed.  The lock and key are from the best craft shop ever…I’ve maybe mentioned them before! lol

Half-term madness

I’ve been off all week which means I’ve been crafting all week.  It’s been wonderful! lol I accomplished less than I had hoped, but isn’t that always the way?  At the beginning of the week I saw Carlyann’s post about Digi Sketch Challenge’s current challenge to ‘Glitter it.’  Glitter isn’t really my thing (other than for snow), but Distress Stickles in scattered straw came to the rescue.  Here’s Miss Lily from DitzieDigiDesigns

Can you see the stickles on her hair clip?  Coloured with copics and the paper is from bazzill.

Feathered Friends

This month’s atc swap theme for one of the Facebook groups I’m in was ‘Our Feathered Friends.’ It was this group that got me making atcs and now I’m addicted.  We can send as many as five and this month I decided I wanted to receive five amazing creations…I had to get to work! lol

Hope is…

This first one didn’t turn out quite as well in my mind.  I wanted it to look like a wing.  If I were to do it again, I’d cut the feathers so that I had a few layers of them instead of just one long layer.  Inside is the verse about ‘hope is the thing with wings…”

Hope is…

I like to make interactive atcs and this next one is very interactive.  The tree trunk is made with distress inks and the fabulous stamp from Neil Walker that I bought from That Craft Place.  Here’s the outside view.

And  a little surprise behind the picket fence (cut on my cameo).

And then a bigger surprise on the inside.  All coated with Triple Thick to hide my glue issues.  I never did learn the whole glue thing in primary! lol IMG_0019

I’ve shown the atc slider thing before.  This time I used a Ditzie Digi Design rose and a free humming bird digi.

IMG_0023And what atc swap would be complete without me using a quote.  This one is from one of my favourite authors, Douglas Adams.  The duck is really a dodo and is from Octopode.

Time goes slowly…

I was desperate to enter this fortnight’s challenge over at That Craft Place Challenge Blog.  The theme is love.  Of course, I never do you the easy thing and ended up making a rather unromantic card.  It all came about because I wanted to use one of Lisa’s fab images that has a pocket watch…I love to use quotes so Googled love + time + quotes.  The quote on the card came up and I kept coming back to it.  I think this image of Lisa’s looks pensive and viola!Image

Papers are Graphic 45 from several years ago (thanks eBay!), copics, and fab digi are from my favourite shop. Sketch is from MFT almost a year ago.  You can find it here.

Flower Power

I just love this fab image from DitzieDigiDesigns.  I used October Afternoon’s Cakewalk paper, copics, antique linen distress ink, twine, and buttons.  All this (and more!) were purchased from the best craft shop evah.  I sent the teal one to a birthday group buddy.  I have a friend in America who suggested we make two of every card and send the duplicate to each other.  That seemed like a fab idea and the burgundy one will be winging its way to America next week.

Another Birthday?

Yup…another birthday card (actually 2).  I’m totally late getting one of them off to Australia hence the Belated Birthday one.  The other is for Prince Charming’s sister’s birthday this weekend.  I don’t think she reads my blog, so I should be safe!

The fabulous image is from Ditzie Designs. The papers are October Afternoon, the banner die is La La Land, and the circle dies are Spellbinders.  I used my cameo to print the sentiments (love those pens!) and to cut them.  Everything, including the cameo, is from my fav shop That Craft Place.

Seeing double?

Spot the difference?

The belated birthday card says inside ‘Bet all those other fools sent cards on time!’ PC’s sister’s inside says ‘Weren’t you old enough last year?’

What secrets lie within?

My favourite craft shop hosted an ATC (artist trading card…the size of a baseball card or 2.5 x 3.5 inches) swap last month.  I can’t resist getting involved in That Craft Place’s swaps because they s-t-r-e-t-c-h me and move me out of my comfort zone.  An added bonus is the amazing art I get in return (watch this space for the atc I received).  For some reason I’m in a interactive zone at the mo and The Kid from The Octopode Factory.  My swap partner also got a cameo for Christmas so we decided that we had to have at least one thing cut on our cameo.  I used the trace feature and eventually got a good cut…thanks to Lisa!  It’s good to learn new things! lol

The Kid from The Octopode Factory.

The Kid from The Octopode Factory.

I used a dry brush technique (I’m totally making this up…I watched a youtube video of Andy Skinner and talked to Lisa about she did on her shop samples) with Desert Turquoise and Purple Cow DecoArts paint.  I coloured The Kid with copics.  I lurve the quote on the back.  For those of you not familiar with Bill Watterson, he used to draw the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes which was one of my favourites growing up and in my 20s.

Thanks for stopping by!
