Cute as a …

Today is my very first post for That Craft Place as a Design Team member.  My previous post told you all about how excited I was about being asked to be part of it.  This fortnight’s challenge is Buttons.  When I found out, all I could think was ‘Cute as a button.’

Wilson the Woofie

It’s an atc where the bone tilts Wilson’s head.  I coloured Wilson with copics and cut him with my silhouette (Wilson’s head is cut separately from the body for this).  I also cut the atc on the silhouette and used a newspaper pattern from the silhouette shop.  I used a font from the silhouette shop as well.  Stacey posted a video about how to faux stitching on the silhouette which taught me how to get things to print without using the silhouette pens.  Always good to learn new things! I then used vintage photo distress ink on Ditzie Designs coffee rings stamp to stamp over the top.  I also inked the edges in vp distress ink.  I used DecoArts Satin Varnish over everything because I love the texture it leaves.  I also used alcohol inks to age a white button from my stash and attached it with glossy accents.  I used glossy accents on the eyes and nose to highlight those spots.

I’m a dog person (although I did have a 7 year fling with some cats in Canada).  Not quite two years ago, a black and white terror came into my home and stole my heart.  You can see him above on the banner.  Scooter has grown into a lovely dog who is incredibly well behaved at home and absolutely barking mad on walks.  I do reckon that since he’s so good at home I can put up with the nutso hour on the walks.  So, are you a cat or dog person?

Stop the Presses!!!!!

I have big major remarkable significant earthshaking monumental news!

I am on That Craft Place’s Design Team!

I’ve never really been fussed about being on one until last December’s DT call.  I wasn’t ready to apply, but made it my New Year’s resolution to at least apply…never dreaming I’d get on it.  I also thought it was a once a year thing and had until December to get good enough!  Anyroads, along comes the DT call and I thought ‘what the heck, let’s give it a go.’  When Erin Sparkles emailed me I thought it was the rejection one because it started off about the overwhelming response!

I thought I’d share the amazing box of goodies I got.  All of this, and more!, is available from my favourite shop.

Steampunk Greetings

Another card for my birthday groups.  The patterned paper is Madame Payraud’s paper and the cream is lovely linen textured paper that’s been embossed with a clock embossing plate from Cheery Lynne.  It’s been inked with vintage photo distress ink.  The image is Miss Lily from DitzieDigiDesigns.  Coloured with copics.

Colouring Lessons

I’ve bit the bullet and am taking the colouring classes from Kit and Clowder.   We are to upload a recently coloured image.  I chose this fab image from DitzieDigiDesigns. Alyce said nice things, but we’re going to work on more contrast (ie better highlights) and the shadows in the right places.  I’ve been working with her colour combinations (but, not on my practice sheets…I’ve so behind on my birthday cards!) and finding E000 to be really light and hard to get a good blend.  I’ve got to get my act together and do the practice sheets, upload them, and ask for help! lol  I do love to colour so really it shouldn’t be such a big issue.  I need to colour since I find it relaxing (usually) and I’m in the midst of a fibro flare.  I might do some painting/gessoing tonight as I find that the most relaxing.  Anyhoo, you’re probably not all that interested in all of that! lol

‘Tis Fashionable…

You know that sinking feeling that you get when you look at the work you’ve just done and you think ‘I don’t like it’? I’ve got that times 2. On the plus side, I really like how my atc for the swap over at That Craft Place is coming along.  The not liking thing isn’t good as I’ve got 8, count ’em eight, birthday cards to do for March.  Most of them are for people that live in Canada and should have been posted last weekend.  I need to be very productive tomorrow! lol

This is one of the cards that will get posted on Monday.  It’s for a very dear friend who loves musicals and Audrey Hepburn almost as much as me.  Almost!  The inside says ‘Tis fashionable m’dear to remember the date and forget the year!’ IMG_0006

Image is from Sassy Studios and coloured with Copics.

Saturday is washing day

Saturday is washing day…at least in my house!  I’m so busy throughout the week that all the housework, with the exception of the most pressing things like emptying the rubbish bins and the dishes/washing up, is left till the weekend.  That means the soundtrack to my weekend is the washing machine.  The infernal thing is so s.l.o.w.!  Even the quick wash takes 1.5 hours.  Seriously!  I almost want it to break down so that I have to buy a new one…this time I’ll do more research and spend a bit more though.

Altered Peg

Altered Peg

So, the above rant came to mind because I wanted to share this altered clothes peg with you.  I did a frilly, pretty one back before Christmas, back before Lisa corrupted me, but it wasn’t really working with my new style.  I did this one after my first class with Mark Gould using DecoArts Traditions acrylic paints in cream, orange, and brown.  I sanded back to reveal the different colours (boy, does my sanding technique leave much to be desired, but I’ll get there).  I then added cogs from my favourite shop that I used Inka Gold on.  I use these pegs to hold my ATCs and other small things to be photographed.  Well, that and to look pretty on my shelf! lol

What do you use to hold your things when you take photos?
