Several weeks ago, I took a fabulous class with Mark Gould at That Craft Place. We did these amazing clocks using chalk paint. The best part was I learned about embossing grey board, which is now my new obsession and has required a new tool…the x-cut embossing machine (currently on offer at TCP) which I love. We also did this wonderful sanding back technique. So, back to my project…I first painted in grey, then burgandy, finally sanding back to revel the grey on the high points of the embossing. I think this technique makes it look like a vintage metal decoration. The leaves were done with Mark’s infamous 3 colours of paint and sand until your arms ache technique and 3 shades of green. Lastly, I painted the berries white with a layer of citrus (a transparent colour from DecoArt), plopped texture paste on top to give them depth, and doused them in glitter because Christmas means sparkle. 😉
Christmas is my favourite holiday and I can’t wait to put this up with the other Chrimbo decorations.
I’m pretty sure no one is surprised that everything came from That Craft Place (including the glitter which I bought on my very first visit 10 months ago!) which is, of course, the best craft shop evah! Well, that’s my (and countless others) opinion!
