Gifts Galore

Totally multi-tasking today!  This is a project for the new challenge over at That Craft Place – Anything with a Digi sponsored by the darling All Dressed Up Digi company.  The multi-tasking part?  I’m going to send it with my other Christmas ATCs for the swap in one of favourite fb groups.  See what I did there? 😉

I embossed a greyboard ATC with a Docrafts embossing folder, painted with red and buttermilk, sanded back to show the red, and then edged in black archival ink.  I stamped the tree (no idea who made it) and coloured it and ‘I love my cuddly toys’ with copics.  I used a bit of silicone glue to give the tree some lift, added the sentiment, and covered the whole thing with a coat of DecoArts Decopage because I love the finish it gives.  Phew!  Just about got it all done in time for the challenge going live! lol

Toad & Magic – New Blog Name

As much as I loved the previous name, I chose it 5 years ago coming out of a 15 year marriage.  I was moving/had moved to a new country/new continent and was looking forward to starting over.  The quote, from Shakespeare, really helped me put the past behind me without overlooking, under emphasizing or even over emphasizing how those 15 years had shaped me.  It helped me put it all in perspective.  However, I’m now happily in a relationship with my very own made-to-measure (or to update it true British speak…bespoke) Prince Charming for 5 years (no comments about the speed of entering said relationship! lol) and very much settled into life in the English countryside. I think it’s time for a change.

Why Toad & Magic?  I’m embarrassed to say…it’s not my nickname though!  However, Toad is a character in a fab dystopian ya book I read recently…The Maze Runner which I highly recommend!  The magic part relates from to the magic I feel whenever I find time to sit down and create.

Thanks for coming along on this fabulous journey I’m on…I wonder what round the next bend?

Autumn ATCs

I love to make ATCs and one of the groups I’m in does a swap every two months.  They give us a broad themes that allow our imaginations to run wild!  The September/October theme was Autumn.  I’m still into making interactive ones, although this time not all of them were. The Past is Prologue

I painted a greyboard atc (from TCP) to make a sunset scene.  I then stamped a Tim Holtz collage image in Archival Black ink.  The sentiment is from PaperArtsy and was stamped on to tissue in burgundy ink.  After this photo was taken, there was a bit of an accident and some of the paint in the lower left corner peeled off.  I used gelatoes in autumn colours on clear shrink plastic and die cut 3 leaves.  After shrinking them, I attached them to 3 corners.

The Past is PrologueI tried to make this one look like the side of shed…don’t know why!  A shed that had been repaired with a bit of metal.  Again, don’t know why!  This was a bit of silver mirri card embossed with that fab embossing folder from Tim Holtz and aged with alcohol inks and paint.  I also added a bit of silver frantage.  The leaf was done the same as described above.  I used one of Neil Walker’s bird stamps, coloured with autumn coloured copics, and stuck with silicon glue to give it some dimension.  This one was picked as the best atc in the swap! 😉

autumn atc3I love this die set from MFT.  In fact, I asked Lisa to order it for me!  I wanted to make it look like one of those warm, cozy jumpers/sweaters that you start wearing once there is a nip in the air!  It opens up to reveal a sentiment.  I embossed the greyboard atc blank with a knit embossing folder, painted it white, then a layer of buttermilk, sanded back to expose the white, added the die cuts.  I used a grungy spot stamp from PaperArtsy on the inside. The Past is Prologue

I think my favourite is this spooky one.  Very similar to my last post, but no sanding back or cheek!  Skull and crossbones are The Past is Prologuemdf from TCP.

Cheeky ATC

One of the groups I’m in did a Male ATC swap.  For some reason sheds came to mind when I thought about men so I did this.

The Past is PrologueI embossed the greyboard atc blank with a wood folder, painted it in teal, then a layer of brown, and sanded back to reveal the teal.

So what to put inside?  Something a bit cheeky, but not OTT!  I found these public domain images from Zoe Mozert that fit the bill perfectly.

All the hardware, atc blanks, and paints came from TCP.

Joyeux Noel

Something a little different from me today.  I’m a new convert to the lushness that is DoCrafts.  I bought the Christmas Goody Bag from That Craft Place and it had lots of decopage sheets with these fab Victorian images.  If you know me, you know I’m so not a decopage person!  What was I going to do with these?  A pin where a person put a vintage image on an atc and light bulb moment! The Past is Prologue

I painted one of Lisa’s fab ticket atcs in gold, did the decopage part (next time I’m going to use silicone glue so that it’s a bit more dimensional), used the fab one-step crackle from DecoArts and burnt sepia on both the atc blank and the image, finally I put a coat of gloss varnish over everything.  I also used beautiful ribbon from TCP…that damn Lisa has such great taste when it comes to ribbon and I think I own at least a metre of most of the ones in the shop! lol

The Past is Prologue

By the way, there’s a new challenge over at That Craft Place Challenge Blog…Anything goes with Kit and Clowder.  You don’t have to colour, I promise! 😉
