Life Story

Toad & Magic

Another page for my art journal.  I fell in love with decopage whilst making Christmas cards this year and decided to try it with some of my stamps.  I’m really pleased with how the typewriter worked out, although I wish I had cut between (I used to know the proper names cause I learned to type on a typewriter! lol) roller and the clippy thing that kept the paper tight and smooth against the roller.  Oh well, live and learn!

The background is ripped pages from a 1950s women’s magazine with distress stains.  The postal stamp is from PaperArtsy and the alpha stamps are Dylusions.  The typewriter is from Creative Expressions and I stamped it in watering can archival ink.

One of my resolutions this year is to participate in the Facebook group Journal52.  I’m going to use a fab wood folder that I bought from That Craft Place that’s a bit of an odd size (A4 in length and 5.5″ wide) so am cutting my own pages using the super smooth card also from TCP.

The first prompt was PATHWAYS.  I’ve used distress inks in earthy colours, a stencil for the path, and some PaperArtsy stamps for the background.

I see life as a path God laid out for me. The problem is I like to take difficult detours. He always brings back though.

Monochrome Challenge

Don’t faint!  I coloured!  I have no idea what inspired me to pull out my pens, but I’m so glad I did.  In fact, I had so much fun with Queenie that I coloured up two more images from That Craft Place.  I used a Prima pad and picked out pinks to go with the papers.  One of the things that I love about the Bettys is all the guide lines in the hair!
