I <3 Shrines

That Craft Place is finally making mini shrines.  I saw finally because I’ve been nagging Lisa to design some for ages!  I now know what took so long…perfection!  There are 4 different teeny tiny styles.

Toad & MagicThe heart is air dry clay that I painted.  The clock (from the clock grab bag) was spritzed with DecoArts sprays.  The outside of the shrine is done with Andy Skinner’s faux rust technique.  The inside is one of those happy accidents that I’ll never be able to repeat, but it was achieved with silver and prussian blue paint, a turquoise spray, and a stencil brush.

It’s the Mixed Media team’s turn this fortnight at That Craft Place.  We’d love to see your projects!

Laser Cutting at its (very) Best Challenge 2

Already time for another challenge over at Laser Cutting at its (very) Best.

This month I made a tag using one of the tags from Creative Expressions.  They’re a lovely big size with lots of room for embellishments.Toad & Magic

Everything on here is from That Craft Place.  I used Tammy Tutterow’s toothbrush technique which is wonderful getting that chipped paint look.  The wing is mdf made to look rusty using Andy Skinners easy technique.  I also aged the leaf using another one of his tricks.  The butterfly is a greyboard laser cut that I embossed, painted and highlighted the embossing with gilding wax.  I used DecoArts antiquing cream on the key.  The orange flowers were made with an epic Creative Expressions die…I just know I’ll use it over and over again.  The lovely ribbons were in my dt pack from That Craft Place and just happened to match perfectly with my project!
