Steampunk Love

I rarely name my creations, but I was calling this one ‘Steampunk Love’ in me head whilst doing it.

This is one of the Shaker Hearts from Creative Expressions.  I embossed a cog background and painted it with Cosmic Shimmer Shimmer Paint Rich Oak.  This is the most amazing brown with hints of other rich dark colours.  So scrummy! I used brass gilding wax because there’s lots of brass in all things steampunk.  I used G45’s Steampunk coordinating papers to paper piece Steampunk Betty (her skin is coloured with copics).  I did use silicone glue to give some layers some depth.  I saw a pin that used rusty hinge distress embossing powder to make paper look rusty.  Out came my brand new CE Peony dies (with matching stamps, but didn’t use the stamps this time) and some kraft card. I used a screw brad for the center.  I’m so impressed with how easy these flowers were to make and the embossing powder really does make it look rusty…perfect for Steampunk Love! 😉

I sprayed some white flowers with Dylusions  to make them match the project. The barbwire is mirri card cut with a Cherry Lyn die and painted with a bit of quin gold.

I used a bit of green ferro paint on the mdf birdcage (Stampink from That Craft Place) and a bit of DecoArt Quin gold fluid acrylics.
